1. Each student willcomplete a compare and contrast paper on their experience in class and how it relates to theprocess of interest group lobbying in the actual United States Congress. The paper will be divided into four parts (please label each part 1a, 1b, 1c and 1d):
a. Give a brief background of both the House Representative and the lobbyist you are portraying (1/2 a page long and 10% of paper grade)
b. As a House Representative, did you ask questions that were answered adequately by the lobbyist/witness, or was the lobbyistevading the question? Please give examples. (1 page long and 20% of paper grade)
c. As a lobbyist/witness, did you adequately answer the questions asked of you by the House Representatives, or were the questions not pertinent to the role you were playing? Please give examples. (1 page long and 20% of paper grade)
d. Did the lobbying/witness process in Congress during the simulation reflect reality (please use the class textbook by Nownesand outside source(s)to inform your answer)? (3-4 pages long and 50% of paper grade)
2. The paper will be 5-6 pages (double-space preferred) using no more than 12 font. Due on May 12th at 10pm in Canvas. Please use in-text citations for part 1d. A works cited page with at least four sources (including two academic sources) is also required.
