Overview
Before counselors are ready to identify disorders, they must become well practiced at listening attentively during the intake interview. Counselors must try to identify the presenting problem and history of the problem by understanding the client’s full situation.
In Weeks 2 and 3, you will examine a case study scenario that will help you become more familiar with the biopsychosocial assessment process, including the mental status exam and case conceptualization. This week’s assignment will focus on completing the first part of the Biopsychosocial Assessment form.
Access Carolyn's Case Study: Session 1 and complete it using the accompanying instructions.
Prior to completing the Biopsychosocial Assessment Form: Part 1 section in Carolyn’s Case Study: Session 1, listen carefully to the case presented in Carolyn’s Case Study: Session 1 in the two audio files. You can read the full conversation in Carolyn’s Case Study: Session 1.
Note: Listen to the Intake file first, then the Mental Status Exam file.
