Overview
You will write an autobiographical account of your sociopsychological development. Include information about how you formed your cultural identity, the culture of your family of origin, the country in which you were born, the home or neighborhood you lived or the school you attended, opportunities you had or did not have, religious affiliation, values, beliefs learned from your family of origin, and discuss how each of these areas and others helped form you as a person. Think about how your identity is the same as or different from your family of origin. Address what you learned from your family of origin about race, gender, class, disabilities, socioeconomic, faith/spirituality, age, and ethnicity and what your learned about interrelationships among social identities. Discuss the strengths and challenges in your cultural identity. Share what advantages or disadvantages you experienced relevant to your cultural influences. Discuss how your Christian worldview has shaped you and influences how you relate to other people; especially people who are different from you.
Create an initial philosophy statement to include general viewpoint and general fundamental principles and values that uphold your views regarding the counseling of clients from cultures and backgrounds that are different from your own.
The paper will be 4-6 pages of content and will include a title page. Follow APA format. Grammar and mechanics will also be graded. You may use first person point of view.
