Overview
The principal sets the standards for the school, and those who are most successful engage in reflective practices related to their personal character and professional performance. They take time to foster a culture of trust and forge strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders so that decision-making is ethical, inclusive, and distributed to support the success of all students.
Review the “Professional Dispositions of Learners,” the “Model Code of Ethics for Educators (MCEE),” and “CCCE College of Education Academic Program Competencies,” and consider what you have learned about various leadership styles and models throughout your program of study.
Create a 250-500 word personal code of conduct that outlines the virtues and priorities you will hold yourself to and model for those you are leading. You will use this framework to inform future course assignments related to your leadership plan. The code of conduct should be reflective of your non-negotiable personal expectations and address specific priorities related to the following:
- Self-reflection specific to personal character and professional practice
- Ethical decision-making and utilization of practical wisdom, research, and best practices
- Equity, cultural responsiveness, and the inclusion of diverse stakeholders
- Distribution of leadership
- Communication with school community stakeholders.
