Instructions
Before submitting your Written Response Assessment, carefully review the rubric. This is the same rubric that the assessor will use to evaluate your submission, and it provides detailed criteria describing how to achieve or master the Competency. Many students find that understanding the requirements of the Assessment and the rubric criteria help them direct their focus and use their time most productively.
All submissions must follow the conventions of scholarly writing. Properly formatted APA citations and references must be provided where appropriate. Submissions that do not meet these expectations will be returned without scoring.
Professor direct instruction: Exploring applied behavior analysis, developmental psychology, and the correlation between character quirks and happiness are all focus areas that will fit quite well with the requirements of your final Capstone project, as will the fact that culture plays a significant role in both the availability and the effectiveness of mental health treatments and the effects of early behavioral interventions on children's emotional, social, and cognitive development. I am confident that your literature search will yield some very interesting results, enabling you to identify a concise problem statement that addresses a gap in the literature.
This competency will provide you with practice in research strategies, including critical thinking and the use of academic research tools, necessary for researching a chosen topic, problem, or area of interest. You will have an opportunity to explore and gain skills in critical thinking and apply these skills to your academic writing. You will practice researching scholarly articles and applying critical thinking skills to evaluate research. Your writing assignments will provide you with an opportunity to fine-tune your knowledge of APA format and using Grammarly and Turnitin. The skills you acquire in this Competency will provide a solid foundation for your academic endeavors as you progress through the remaining Competencies.
Final Assessment Guidance:
As you complete your Final Assessment, I want to share some thoughts and guidance with you.
· Submit your response using the SS001 Written Response Template. DO NOT DELETE any of the instructions or Rubric Measures in the Template. ADD your responses where indicated.
· Remember to include your name and email address on the first page of the submission template.
· When inserting your Item responses in the Assessment Template, if you are unable to format your response, to include paragraph identification, instead of placing your response inside the text box “Enter your response here”, begin your response just outside the text box. This will allow you to format your response correctly. This is important because the Item responses have the number of paragraph requirements.
· If your input into the template appears in a color font other than black and underlined, you have the “Track Changes” edit function in Word turned on. To turn off the edit Track Changes function, select the “Review” tab and then click on the “Track Changes” icon to turn off Track Changes.
· If you have input into the template that appears in a color font other than black and underlined, and you have not turned off the “Track Changes” function, you can remove the other color font and underlining by selecting the “Review” tab and then selecting “Accept all Changes”.
· Final Assessment format is a Word document. Do not submit as a .pdf.
· Ensure your responses comply with the number of paragraphs required.
· Carefully read the Assessment Instructions to ensure you are responding to all prompts in each Item. For example, the second prompt in Item #1 states: Based on the Learning Activities for this Competency, describe how you will use critical thinking to develop a research topic. This prompt directs you to tell me how YOU will use critical thinking.
· Item 2 in part requires you to revise your original Item 1 (from the Word document) and make any necessary changes to grammar, academic writing, or APA format, incorporating the Grammarly and Turnitin feedback. Make sure to include your entire edited revision in your response for Item 2.
· Before you begin each Item, carefully review the Rubric to ensure your response qualifies for a “Meets Expectations” score.
· Ensure that your citations and References are correctly formatted according to APA guidelines. References should include the journal article DOI. As a part of my review and grading of your Final Assessment, I will locate and review all of the references you provide. Before submitting your Final Assessment, I encourage you to test the DOI link for accuracy.
· Ensure citations are provided where appropriate.
· Please rely on scholarly sources instead of ".com" website sources for your assignments in this course. Where your information comes from matters. For your opinions and perspectives to be taken seriously in professional and academic settings, it is essential to clearly indicate the origins of your sources.
Reminder:
All competency submissions must be your original work with appropriate citation for any unoriginal content.
