Overview
Engaging school community partners in leadership roles can benefit both the community partners and the school and promote the shared mission, vision, values, and positive school culture you are seeking to build. Taking time to identify current and potential partners and taking action steps to make them part of the school community helps them invest in the local school and student learning outcomes.
Assume you are the principal of the school where you currently work or are most interested in working. Using the topic Resources and your own research, develop a community engagement plan for the year. The 500-750 word plan should address the following:
- Identify a minimum of three community organizations with whom you would like to partner to promote educational success. Provide a rationale for why you selected each organization.
- Describe two ways you can partner with each organization either through joining the group or through community building activities.
- Describe a specific strategy you will use to connect each community partner with faculty, staff, and/or students in ways that are mutually beneficial.
- Discuss one strategy you will use to engage each community partner in some sort of character education or leadership activity/role within the school to foster a shared mission and vision and positive school ethos and culture.
- Describe the process you will use to obtain ongoing stakeholder feedback about the effectiveness of the partnership and activities in which you are engaging with each partner.
