The Brain and Nervous System
This week you are learning about two basic concepts: the brain and the nervous system. In understanding these concepts, we are introduced to the role of nature and nurture. What is the nature-nurture debate, and how do scientists attempt to resolve questions about how much of our development and behavior is due to nature (e.g., heredity) and nurture (e.g., your environment)? What are neurons and how do they function?

What does the study of the nervous system tell us about how the structure and function of our nervous system influence our behavior and our gender (including gender identity and sexual orientation?)
