PS 385 Target Topic in applied Behavior analyst.

Overview

Final Project: ABA Applied Study and Intervention Report

Topic 1: Definition and Dimensions of Applied Behavioral Analysis

Instructions:

Define what Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) is, according to specialized literature.

Describe each of the 7 dimensions of ABA proposed by Baer, Wolf and Riley (1968):

Applied

Behavioral

Analytical

Technological

Conceptually systematic

Cash

Generality

Provide a specific clinical example of its application for each dimension, ensuring that the examples are clear, observable and related to professional practice (for example: intervention in ASD, training in social skills, reduction of problem behaviors, teaching of self-care skills).

Topic 2: Functional Analysis and Intervention Procedures

Instructions:

Complete the following table for each of the problematic behaviors listed (physical aggression, pica, escape/elopement, tantrums and property destruction).

In each row, define:

Topographical definition: objectively describe how the behavior is observed.

Background/Configup Events: environmental or contextual conditions that precede the behavior.

Hypothetized function: attention, escape, tangible or automatic stimulation.

Replacement Behavior: functional and socially appropriate behavior that will be taught instead of problem behavior.

Differential Extinction/Reinforcement Procedure: explain the extinction strategy according to the function and specify the type of differential reinforcement (DRA, DRO, DRI, etc.) you would apply.

Use this Table to present your answers.

Topic 3: Design of Learning Objectives in ABA

Instructions:

Select THREE appropriate skills for a client (for example: functional communication, basic academic skills, self-care or social skills) and develop a comprehensive teaching plan that includes the following components:

1. Properly defined learning objective: write the goal behavior in an operational, clear, observable and measurable way.

2. Material description: specify what materials, visual supports or resources will be used to teach the skill.

3. Instructions for the RBT: describe step by step how the RBT should implement the learning objective during the session.

4. Mastery criterion: define the objective criteria (percentage, number of sessions, consistency) that will indicate when the client has reached the skill.

5. Generalization: explain how the skill will be taught in different environments, with different people and materials.

6. Maintenance: describe the procedure that will ensure that the learned behavior is preserved over time (frequency of review, probing sessions, natural reinforcers).

Use this Table to present your response.

Component

Description (to be completed by the student)

Learning objective

Define the goal behavior in an operational, clear, observable and measurable way.

Description of the material

Indicate the materials, visual supports or resources necessary to teach the skill.

Instructions for the RBT

Describe step by step how the RBT should implement the learning objective during the session.

Mastery criterion

Establish the criterion that indicates when the client has reached the skill

Generalization process

Explain how the skill will be taught in different environments, with different people and materials.

Maintenance process

Describe how the preservation of the skill will be guaranteed over time.
