To explore the concept of gender in your own culture and another culture.

This discussion is lengthy and may be a bit uncomfortable. In many cultures, gender isn't explicitly discussed but more of an implied concept with ascribed roles. Please contact me if you would like to talk about gender and culture in more detail.

1. How is gender defined in your culture?
2. Do you come from a matriarchal or patriarchal culture? Reference one of the readings/videos from this week when explaining your answer.
3. Discuss 2 common female gender norms and provide an example of how this plays out in your culture.
4. Discuss 2 common male gender norms and provide an example of how this plays out in your culture.
5. How have your views about gender and gender expression been influenced by your culture
6. Now, pick a culture you're interested in (cannot be your own culture).Look up the cultures gender roles and answer the following questions. Provide a citation for each answer:
   1. Is this culture more individualistic or collectivistic?
   2. Is the culture more patriarchal or matriarchal?
   3. What roles do these gender roles serve within this culture?
