Objective: to compare and contrast two classic pieces of research on how society's attitude towards children has changed over time.
Instructions: Complete the readings by Mintz. Compare and contrast both readings by explaining how the readings are similar and how they are different. Present examples from the readings to support your response.
Successful completion of this activity requires you to:
- Complete the two readings associated with this lesson.
- In at least 200 words, discuss at least two ways in which the readings are similar and at least two ways the readings are different. Use examples from the reading to support the ways in which the readings are similar and different.
- Reply to one of your fellow classmate's postings. As part of the reply posting, be sure to address the points made within your fellow classmates' postings. The reply posting should be at least six sentences in length. In your reply to your fellow classmate's posting, you may address one of the following:
- Expand upon or clarify a point made in the posting your fellow classmate submitted. Provide at least an example from the readings to support your response.
- Offer an additional point of view to support a position taken in the posting you are replying to. Provide evidence from the reading to support the point of view.
- Suggest ways in which an idea presented in the posting you are replying to could be more clearly expressed. Use evidence from the reading to support your suggestions.
- Identify where you think your classmate misunderstood a concept/theory or applied it incorrectly and explain how the response could be corrected. Use examples from the readings to support your feedback.
- Disagree with a point or position made in the posting you are replying to and provide evidence to support your point of view.
