Psychology Question

Overview

Select an abstract from a study from the course reading list and respond to seven questions about the study concerning EDI and ethical considerations.

This assessment focuses on ethical standards in psychological research and publication, highlighting the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion. You will read Chapter 12 from Decoding the Ethics Code and explore articles on improving inclusivity in research designs and team dynamics, ensuring ethical and culturally sensitive research practices.

When you conduct research that focuses on EDI, there are several things to consider. For this assessment, you will select an abstract from ONE of the studies Assessment 5 Studies and Abstracts [PDF] Download Assessment 5 Studies and Abstracts [PDF]. The studies are from the course reading list. After reviewing the study, answer the following seven questions. Support your responses with at least three of the course readings provided. You may also add additional sources but use a minimum of three scholarly sources. Remember to use in-text citations (in your responses) to properly attribute the resources you select. Also, include a reference list.

1. What is the specific problem or issue related to EDI that this research aims to address?

  • Identifying the exact focus helps in setting clear objectives and research questions.

2. Who are the stakeholders and communities affected by this issue, and how will their perspectives be included in the research?

  • Ensuring the inclusion of diverse voices and perspectives is crucial for comprehensive understanding and relevance.

3. How will the research design and methods ensure the representation of diverse groups, especially those traditionally marginalized or underrepresented?

  • This ensures that the sample is inclusive and representative of the population under study.

4. What steps will be taken to mitigate potential biases in data collection and analysis?

  • Identifying and addressing biases is essential for maintaining the integrity and validity of the research.

5. What ethical considerations must be addressed to ensure the respectful and fair treatment of all participants?

  • This includes informed consent, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.

6. What mechanisms will be put in place to engage with and incorporate feedback from diverse stakeholders throughout the research process?

  • Ongoing engagement with stakeholders helps ensure the research remains relevant and accurate.

7. How will the findings be communicated and disseminated to ensure they are accessible and actionable for diverse audiences?

  • Effective communication strategies ensure that the research has a practical impact and reaches those who can benefit from and act on the findings.
  • Written communication: Should be free of errors that detract from the overall message.
  • References: You must cite best practices from at least three scholarly research articles in this assessment. You may cite reputable sources from websites, books, textbooks, and assigned resources as well, but these will not count toward the three required scholarly research references.
