The following document (attached below) is a sample of a brief research report based on the topic of civic engagement in college. Please review the sample so you have an idea of what a brief research report looks like and what is expected and use the same format (general writing style, font type and size, where title, name, and affiliation appear, headers specific to the topic you chose, how references are written and where they appear, etc.).

Note that the headers correspond to the specific topic of the sample document. Your headers should be different and reflect your own topic and how you want to organize the report. Be sure to cite any statistics provided as well as details you learned about through your reading of credible sources and interviews. Both in-text citations and full references (citations) must be written in APA writing style, 7th edition. See links to APA writing resources provided within the service-learning assignment module. BLENDED WORK: How Positive Psychology Can Help

Objectives:

  • Identify the three main areas that positive psychology focuses on
  • Describe how positive psychology can help us become aware of and utilize positive emotions and moods
  • Identify positive institutions and how they can help our overall well-being
  • Reflect on your own experiences and observations and relate them what you learned about

Instructions:

Review chapter 16 on Positive Psychology as well as your class notes. Then, respond to the prompts below and reply to at least one classmate with meaningful feedback.

PROMPT: Which positive emotions and subjective experiences are most helpful for adjusting to change and challenges in life? How can positive psychology help enhance our overall well-being and accomplish our goals, without allowing stressors to overwhelm us? In what ways do you (or will you) apply what you learned to promote healthier functioning for yourself and others?

reply to the following:

The positive emotions that are most helpful for adjusting to change and challenges in life are joy, euphoria, gratitude, and contentment. The subjective experiences that are very helpful with adjusting to change and challenges in life are having a positive mood, experiencing flow, and being in a state of mindfulness. Having a positive mood helps people with creative thinking, and having quick thoughts. People that experience flow become fully engaged and involved in activities that are challenging. Flow not only enhances skills, it is also motivating, and it encourages goal commitment and achievement. Being in a state of mindfulness can lessen negative feelings that are related to experience discrimination. Positive psychology helps enhance our overall well-being and accomplish our goals without allowing stressors to overwhelm us by making us develop human strengths, such as resilience, helping people flourish in their lives, and courage. I would apply what I learned to promote healthier functioning for myself and others by informing others about the subjective experiences that help with adjusting to the challenges and changes in life if they are struggling with them.
