Overview

1. Search five local public health clinics in your community that serve these five target populations (severely mentally ill, veterans, victims of abuse/trauma, LGBTQ, and ethnic and culturally diverse communities).
2. Then select two public health clinics or community settings that serve two target populations that you would like to work with. (Students can write about more than two locations if they selected more out of the five that they would like to focus on).
3. Write a 5–6-page career action plan to work within a community mental health clinic and cite 3-5 sources in APA format. Include the following in the write up:
   1. Clinic/agency name
   2. Clinic location
   3. Client population served
   4. Programs
   5. Services offered
   6. List two job positions of interest in the clinic and write what credentials, background, and educational qualifications you must have and why these two positions are interesting.
   7. Students must describe the skills necessary for professional interactions with the specific target populations they would be working with (i.e., cultural humility, sensitivity to the population's experience, environment, and resource needs).
