Psychology Question

Overview

Orpheus Exercise

(Adapted from J. Bugenthal)

Directions: List 5-6 attributes most essential to yourself. Start with the one least central to yourself. If you can no longer be that, then ask, "Who am I?" Are you without value because you no longer have this attribute that used to identify who you are?

What is in me of value—what remains?

(Write out your description of each attribute and your responses to each question. Devote approximately, 1-2 paragraphs per attribute).

The mental discipline of imagining letting go of such roles allows you to consider what is truly important to you in your existence right now.
