Read the vignette above featuring a pharmaco-profile for a patient receiving intensive psychiatric
monitoring. Imagine you are a mental health professional working with a multidisciplinary team (e.g.,
psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, occupational therapist, etc.) with this patient. Write a 5-to-6-full
page paper from top to bottom discussing the medication prescribed to this patient.
In your paper, discuss each medication prescribed to the patient, including the medication’s
proposed risk and benefits, the symptoms the medication is prescribed to treat, the class of drug under
which the medication is classified, adverse effects, off label uses for the medication if applicable, the ways
in which the medications work collaboratively to address the patient’s symptoms, and any other
information you consider relevant. Using your clinical judgement, discuss whether or not you deem these
medications to be the most appropriate for this patient and his clinical presentation.
Provide a summary page detailing the salient points of your paper, and indicate how each of the
prescribed medications work collaboratively to address the patient’s psychiatric issues and symptoms.
The summary should be no longer than one full page from top to bottom (and could be as short as a single paragraph). If you
make recommendations adjusting the listed medications, include these in the summary page as well. Of
note, your summary page may reiterate what you have already stated in the main body of your paper.
Your paper should be 5 to 6 full double-spaced pages from top to bottom, written in 12-point Times New Roman font, and
must include a summary page and reference page. APA format is not required for the body of your paper;
however, it is preferred by your professor. Your reference page and in-text citations must be in appropriate
APA format. You may use your textbook, async and live session material, notes, or any other scientific
source to obtain information related to your paper. All sources of information must be cited in-text and
on your reference page. Some recommended online sources include pharmaceutical manufacturer
websites (e.g., Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Novartis, etc.), drugs.com, and WebMD. The paper will be due Week 9
and is worth 20% of your overall grade. Late paper submissions will not be accepted. Please see the
grading rubric below for details on how the paper will be scored.
