Psychology Question

Overview

Women’s issue topic:

Body Image and Mental Health Among Women

Each student will be asked to identify and describe a women’s issue. Choose a cause you are passionate about that is pertinent to women’s issues! As the agent of change and advocacy this assignment is meant to allow, you are to describe why this issue is important in the United States and/or on the global stage. Drawing from evidenced based practice, your research, and class lectures, describe the target population, including its demographics, presenting problems, and its access/barriers when dealing with this issue. How is this barrier/problem affecting women’s lives daily? Are cultural/societal factors involved in exacerbating this issue? What theoretical frameworks from the class text can you apply in support of your discussion? What actions would you take to solve or mediate this problem?

Using at least six sources – including the three or four from the annotated bibliography assignment – describe in detail the women’s issue you have chosen and how you will work towards mediating this particular issue. One of your six sources should be your class textbook: Transformations: Women, Gender, and Psychology by Mary Crawford.

This assignment not only requires the identification and a description of a particular women’s issue but requires that you do research and provide at least six peer-reviewed references to support your argument as to why this problem is a women’s issue, as well as evidence that supports how we can address the problem. The paper must be in APA style (typed, 4-5 pages in length, 12-point font and 1-inch margins). 25% of final grade. Late submissions will result in a full letter grade reduction on final paper.

Assignment should have:

  • Cover page
  • Abstract

    • Literature Review (what does the research you conducted say about this issue)
    • Making a Difference - how you plan to address/challenge this problem (EMPLOY CRITICAL THINKING HERE!!)
      • mimics the Make a Difference section at the end of every chapter in your textbook, only you are the one coming up with solutions!!
    • Concise conclusion
  • References page with all in-cited works used in paper
