Note: Synthesizing the evaluation of test materials, scoring, and technology requires specific steps that must be carried out in a certain order. Therefore, you must complete the assessments in this course in the order in which they are presented.
In this assessment, you will focus on the materials, scoring, and technology of the three tests you selected for Assessments 1 and 2.
Preparation
Download the Assessment 3 Template: Evaluation of Test Materials, Scoring, and Technology [DOCX] and use it as the basis of your assessment. The template contains instructions to guide you through each element of the assessment.
Gathering information about and evaluating the remaining elements of the Code will require additional searches in the Capella library (including MMY), as well as other resources (such as test publisher websites). A search for relevant articles may include a keyword search within each review or research article. It may be helpful to do keyword searches within those documents with the following words:
- Materials.
- Scoring.
- Scores.
- Technology.
- Computer or computer-assisted.
Subsequently, this particular assessment requires a deeper search and provides a broader range of sources to fulfill the minimum references. In almost all cases, you will be able to locate some level of information on these elements.
Important: You are not required to submit a copy of your test to complete this assessment.
Instructions
For Assessment 1 you selected three standardized tests that have relevancy to your specialization or a related profession and focused on the testing purpose, population, content and constructs assessed, and test user training. For Assessment 2 you focused on analyzing the evidence for technical quality of your three selected tests.
Chapters 7 and 8 of your Psychological Testing and Assessment text discusses test utility, test development, item analysis, and the use of tests in a variety of settings and with a variety of test-takers. For this assessment, you will apply those concepts to your selected tests when evaluating their materials, scoring, and technology.
For this assessment, locate a minimum of six resources (a minimum of two sources for each test) pertaining to the materials, scoring, and technology of the three tests. You will not be required to have a copy of your tests to complete this assessment. You may use many different types of references and sources to obtain this information about your tests. These references may include journal articles, literature reviews, MMY reviews, and test publisher websites. In almost all cases, you will be able to locate some level of information on these elements.
For some newer test editions, literature may be scarce. Refer to the List of Tests by Type [DOCX] to see which tests are approved for supplementation with articles that address earlier editions of the tests. If the "Combined Review Allowed" column is marked "Yes," you can supplement your review with articles addressing the designated prior version of the test.
Note: In future courses, you may use the Capella library's Interlibrary Loan service to obtain articles outside of the collection, but you should not have to use the service for this course. In the event that you cannot find articles covering a newer test edition, please refer to the List of Tests by Type [DOCX]. Note which tests have been designated as acceptable for searching prior test editions.
If you are struggling with locating sufficient information about a particular test in regard to an element in this assessment, then you will need to cite the references or reviews involved in your search and identify this element as problematic for your selected test as it lacks sufficient documentation in the literature for this element.
Note: Be sure to use the Assessment 3 Template: Evaluation of Test Materials, Scoring, and Technology [DOCX].
Additional Requirements
Your assessment should meet the following requirements:
- Template: Assessment 3 Template: Evaluation of Test Materials, Scoring, and Technology [DOCX] to complete the assessment.
- References: A minimum of six references are required for this assessment (a minimum of two sources per test).
- Length of paper: A minimum of six double-spaced pages of content, not including the title page or references.
