Overview
For this assignment, you will analyze a written behavior scenario to identify the antecedents, behavior, and consequences. Carefully read the scenario provided and determine the events, environmental factors, or interactions that occurred immediately before the behavior (antecedents), provide an objective description of the behavior, and describe what happened immediately afterward (consequences). Organize your response into three sections: antecedents, behavior, and consequences, and use behavioral terminology where appropriate. Additionally, reflect on how the antecedents and consequences may contribute to maintaining or decreasing the behavior over time and propose potential functions for the behavior, such as gaining attention, avoiding a task, or accessing a tangible item.
Your analysis should be 1–2 pages of content in length, double-spaced, and formatted in APA style (include title page and references). Include citations from course materials or readings to support your analysis. Submit your completed assignment by the due date listed via the course learning platform. Scenario
Jamie, a 7-year-old, is working on a math worksheet during independent work time at school. The teacher has instructed the class to complete 10 subtraction problems within 15 minutes. Jamie looks around the room, taps the pencil on the desk repeatedly, and then puts their head down on the desk. The teacher approaches Jamie and says, "You need to finish at least five problems before we go to recess." Jamie sighs loudly, crumples the worksheet, and says, "I can’t do this!" The teacher picks up the crumpled worksheet, smooths it out, and says, "It’s okay, just try one problem." Jamie reluctantly begins to work on one of the problems.
