Psychology Question

Psychology Question

For this project, each of you will read one of the articles posted to the Google Drive under Project #2. You may choose which article to critique, and this should be clearly listed at the top of your assignment that you submit.

THE ARTICLE TO USE: I uploaded it

Your goal is to describe and critique the research. You do not necessarily have to expose any major flaws in the methodology or in the conclusions drawn from the research. You simply need to think carefully and evaluate whether or not the research was conducted well and whether or not the conclusions made were justified. Please note that if some information that I ask for is not provided in the article, simply report what specific information was missing. Your response should be typed, double-spaced. I expect that the projects will be approximately two to three pages long. Respond to each of the following questions:

  1. What was the question that the research was trying to answer?
  1. Who were the participants? How were they selected to take part in the research? Might there be some bias in the selection process that would make it difficult to generalize to other segments of the population?
  1. Was the research methodology used an “experiment”?
  1. List the variables in the study and what type of variable it is (e.g. predictor, outcome, manipulated independent, selected independent, dependent variables). Provide operational definitions for each variable.
  1. What were the results of the research?
  1. What (if any) weaknesses existed in the research that are related to internal or external validity? Are there any other alternative explanations for the findings other than the explanation reported in the article?
  1. How well was the research reported in the article? Was there any information not reported that makes it difficult to evaluate the quality of the research? If so, what specific information would you like to have seen reported?
  1. How did this article differ from the one that you evaluated for Project #1? Do not discuss differences in the topics studied; discuss differences in how the research was reported.
