Applications of Different Types of Differential Reinforcement
As with many of the other methods of changing or introducing a new behavior, the various techniques each have situations for which their use is ideal. These conditions include the relationship of the alternative behavior to the problem behavior, the reinforcers used and their frequency, and the attentiveness of the person implementing the technique.
For this Assignment, you will consider three types of differential reinforcement and a real-life situation during which each was used correctly.
To Prepare
- Consider the following types of differential reinforcement:
- Differential Reinforcement of Incompatible Behavior (DRI)
- Differential Reinforcement of Other Behavior (DRO)
- Differential Reinforcement of Low Rates of Behavior (DRL)
Assignment (1–2 pages):
Based on the types of differential reinforcement provided, explain a real-life situation during which each type of differential reinforcement is used appropriately.
