W4 Trauma & Theology
Read:
- Chapters 10-11 of Briere and Scott (2023)
Based on the reading from Ch. 10-11, address the following prompts related to the case example provided by the instructor. (please disregard my highlights in the attached document)
- Identify the type of trauma in this case
- Identify and explain the effects of the trauma in this case
- Explain how you would assess the trauma and posttraumatic outcomes
- Identify and explain the central issue(s) regarding trauma treatment in this case
- Explain how psychoeducation may be applied in this case
- Explain how distress reduction and affect regulation may be applied in this case
- Identify which intervention (i.e., cognitive, emotional processing, or identity and relational functioning) you would recommend for this case and explain why. Explain how you would apply this intervention, the anticipated benefits, and potential risks.
- Reference at least one peer-reviewed scholarly article in addition to the textbook to explain and justify your proposed intervention.
- Explain how you understand trauma treatment approach from a Christian Worldview. Include Scripture to support your stance.
