W5 Casestudy Trauma & Theology
Based on the reading from Ch. 12-13, address the following prompts related to the case example provided by the instructor.
- Considering the psychobiology of trauma, explain potentially successful treatments for PTSD and other stress disorders present in this case that would involve some combination or subset of those listed on page 267 of the Brier & Scott text.
- Considering trauma psychopharmacology, identify and explain the concerns associated with using medications with trauma survivors. Reference at least one peer-reviewed scholarly article in addition to the textbook to explain.
- Explain how the combination of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology could be applied to this case. Identify and explain the potential risks and benefits, providing specific details related to the medication, therapeutic approach, and demographic and biopsychosocial information of the client. Reference at least one peer-reviewed scholarly article in addition to the textbook to explain.
- Explain how you understand trauma treatment, including psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, from a Christian Worldview. Include Scripture to support your stance.
