Psychology Question
This paper must be written using standard APA 7th edition style. The body of the paper (not including the title or reference pages) should be a maximum of 12 double-spaced pages, and points will be deducted for pages beyond 12 pages or below 10 pages. The breakdown of pages and subtopics is outlined below. Please use these “parts” as subheadings in your paper.
Part 1: For Part 1 of this assignment, students will respond to the case study “Jay”. You may choose to begin after any of the “therapeutic moments” in the case – please just specify where you are beginning for the purpose of your paper. After reading the case, students should approach the response paper by reflecting on the following two areas listed below:
- Assume you are picking up where the case study left off as the counselor – how would you proceed with treatment, including specific interventions/treatment strategies? Explain why, referencing the textbook. You may also reference relevant peer-reviewed scholarly articles.
- What might be some of the challenges that you might face in working with this client (e.g., relational, cultural, other challenges)?
- Part 1 of the paper should be approximately 5-6 pages, double-spaced.
Part 2: In Part 2 of this assignment, students will respond to another development in therapy, in which client faith issues are introduced into the therapeutic relationship.
- Still writing from the perspective of the counselor, students should write about issues related to client-therapist parallel process that might arise, given the client’s history and presenting issues around spirituality (and your own as the counselor).
- Additionally, drawing from Scripture and other relevant supporting Biblical sources, students should briefly overview some of the ways in which spiritually oriented interventions might be usefully integrated in working with this client. Although not explicit in the case study, the student can assume that she self-reports as “Christian” although she is not currently active in a local church.
- Part 2 of the paper should be approximately 5-6 pages, double-spaced.
*Must include supporting citations throughout, using the textbook(s) and peer-reviewed scholarly articles.
