Overview
Write a 3–5 page paper applying learning and incentive theories of motivation to situations.
This paper will be in 2 parts. Part 1 will continue the scenario from the class, whereas Part 2 will allow you to reflect on what you’ve learned and apply it to your own learning.
Preparation
Scenario: The hotel staff would like help building a plan to motivate better behavior in their guests.
Step 1: Choose one of the following:
- Getting guests to line up and wait patiently for the National Guard food truck.
- Decreasing or eliminating bullying behavior when the food truck arrives.
- Getting guests to participate in healthy activities during the day.
- Reducing or eliminating criminal behavior such as theft and assaults.
Step 2: Choose a learning or incentive theory of motivation.

Instructions
Be sure to use your textbook and journal articles to provide examples and support along the way.
In PART 1 of the paper, do the following:
- Describe the problem you have selected to focus on.
- Explain what motivates the current behavior in terms of incentives or learned motives.
- Relate a specific theory to examples of current behavior.
- Propose a solution for the selected problem.
- Explain how the solution will motivate better behavior using incentives or learned motives.
- Relate a specific learning or incentive theory to examples of behavior.
- Explain the thought process that led to your proposed solution.
- Explain the limitations of using motivation theories to explain people’s behaviors in the scenario’s circumstances. (Tip: Start with your textbook, the information is in there).
In PART 2 of the paper, do the following:
- Describe your motivation for completing the coursework in this class using the terms, concepts, and theories you’ve learned so far.
- Propose a plan to increase your performance in this course using the terms, concepts, and theories you’ve learned.
