BA525 U2 DISCUSSION
Review of Single Case Experimental Research Designs in Experimental Analysis of Behavior
Single Case Experimental Designs are critical tools in applied behavior analysis, enabling individualized, evidence-based assessments and interventions to improve behavioral outcomes effectively. They provide a direct link from basic research to applied practice.
- For this discussion, describe each of the single case research designs presented by Ayres (2024) in Chapter 2 of your text.
- For each design described, discuss some possible advantages and limitations and present one possible appropriate application for that design in a laboratory research
- Then, describe hybrid designs and considerations for how they may improve some limitations of single case designs in a laboratory research setting.
- Refer back to Baer et al.’s (1968) seminal article and review how these designs support the seven dimensions of ABA.
- Finally, review the Fahmie et al. (2018) article and describe the how the experimental study described effectively supports the goals of applied behavior analysis.
- Be sure that you are using your course readings throughout to support your analysis.
Review two of your classmates' responses, using the following ideas as a guide:
- Are the single case research designs presented with accurate and appropriate details?
- Are advantages and disadvantages of each described?
- Is a rationale developed that supports the relationship between laboratory research, the use of single case research designs, Baer et al.'s (1968) seven dimensions, and application in practice?
- Ask at least one thoughtful follow-up question.
