DiY Home repairs

This is the assassignment...

Instructions

PURPOSE

Effective teaching begins with a deep understanding of its purpose and the learners you work with. In this assignment, you'll provide information about two key areas: (1) the class itself and then (2) the hypothetical students who might take it. These course description and the profiles will guide your instructional choices for the remainder of the Class Creation Project.

INSTRUCTIONS

In a Word file, submit the following information:

Your name

Name of the class you're creating

Description of the class (3-5 sentences)

What type of school\facility the class is offered at

Approximate "grade level" of the class (might take place outside of a traditional grade level structure or could be a college level course)

Why you chose this topic for the class

3-5 learner profiles that each include the following information:

Name of student

Age

Which stage of cognitive development they're in according to Piaget

How do they typically understand and retain new information?

What motivates them to engage in learning, and what might cause them to disengage?

How well do they get along with others in the class?

Academic strengths

Possible challenges......

I submitted something but this is the reply i got....

Looking at your proposed topic, it would not be approved in its current state. I love the overall idea and think it can work with some slight adjustments. For example, a whole course on just repairing drywall would be difficult as this would be better as a topic within a class. So if you did something broader like DIY Home Repair and then had this as one of the lessons, that would work. This would also allow you to add in additional DIY projects that are commonly done around the whole. Does that make sense?

As far as the student profiles, I’m going to copy an example from a previous student as a reference:

Name of student: Gunner

o Age: 5

o Which stage of cognitive development they're in according to Piaget: Preoperational

o How do they typically understand and retain new information? Visual learner

o What motivates them to engage in learning, and what might cause them to disengage? Gunner engages in learning by being able to read or watch videos he becomes disengaged when he is sitting there for a long period of time

o How well do they get along with others in the class? He enjoys being around his fellow students, very helpful when he needs to be.

o Academic strengths: retains information very well when watching the lesson by video or having teacher up at the front, retains information well, ask questions if he has concerns, good test taker

o Possible challenges: doesn’t like to sit for long times during lesson, has some issues working independently
