Stop, Observe, and Reflect: Developmental Psychology Assignment
Course: Developmental Psychology
Instructions:
This week, you will practice a mindfulness-based reflection exercise called Stop, Observe, and Reflect. The purpose of this assignment is to help you connect the developmental psychology concepts covered in class to your own lived experiences as a young adult.
Directions:
Throughout the week, pause at three different moments in your daily life — moments where you notice something significant about your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, or interactions with others. For each moment:
- Stop what you are doing
- Observe what is happening around you and within you
- Reflect on what the experience means in relation to your development
In your written response, you must:
- Describe each of your three moments in detail, explaining what was happening and how you felt.
- Connect each moment to at least two developmental psychology concepts from your textbook (George, Kelley, & Piferi, 2023). Concepts may include but are not limited to: identity development, socioemotional development, emotional regulation, cognitive development, or decision-making.
- Reflect on how your Christian worldview or faith shapes your understanding of personal growth and development. Incorporate at least one biblical reference to support your reflection.
- Discuss what each moment revealed about your personal growth and what you are still learning about yourself.
Format:
- APA format

- Minimum of one page of substantive reflection
- Cite your textbook and Bible version used
Grading Focus:
- Depth of self-reflection
