Analyzing self-help book according to psychological science (Book title: All About Love: New Visions)
I need to write a paper, here are the instructions: Your paper in this class will involve analyzing your self-help book according to psychological science. Remember, many self-help books and online resources are written by people who are not psychological researchers, develop their ideas based on their own, limited, observations, or simply make up what they write (MacGeorge & Hall, 2014, as cited in Miller, 2022). Further, many popular press books are written with the goal of selling copies as opposed to being technically correct. For these reasons, and many more, you should not have trouble spotting problems in your self-help book.
To write your paper, you must find, cite, and reference at least three original peer-reviewed journal articles. The easiest way to search for peer-reviewed articles is using PsycInfo through university’s library’s website. There is a specific toggle that can be selected in PsycInfo to ensure your results are all peer-reviewed. The librarians can help you with this. I use the “chat” option on the library’s website and find it helpful.
To write your paper, I suggest organizing it around your major criticisms (or, in some cases, ways your book is correct). For instance, most students will start their paper with an introductory section, typically organized around explaining the main goals of their selected self-help book. Next, many students will use a sub-heading reflecting their first concern. Next, students can explain how the self-help book addresses an issue (say, infidelity), and then how your scientific article addresses the same issue. This is where the analysis comes in: the comparisons and the contrasts between the sources. The number of sub-headings will vary by student. Finally, students should end their paper with a conclusion section. Somewhere in your paper, you need to make a minimum of six (6) explicit connections to your textbook. These connections can be anywhere in your paper.
In order to incorporate all the requested information, papers should be 4-5 pages long (it is okay if you go over the page limit). Please use APA format for your paper - including a title page and reference page.
