Step 1: Survey Design

  1. Choose Your Target Population & Topic:
    • Identify a group of interest (e.g., social work clients, community service users, caregivers).
    • Define a clear research objective or question that your survey will address.
  2. Develop the Survey Instrument:
    • Include at least 10 survey items: Your items can use a mix of formats, such as Likert scales, multiple choice, ranking, etc.
    • Question Clarity: Ensure that each question is clearly worded, unbiased, and directly related to your research objective.
    • Introduction: Write a brief introduction that explains the purpose of the survey, assures confidentiality, and provides basic instructions.

Step 2: Post your survey to the discussion board

Step 3: Critique Three Surveys

  1. Provide constructive feedback to three of your classmates:
    • List 3 Strengths: Identify three elements of the survey that are particularly effective and explain why.
    • List 3 Areas for Improvement: Suggest three specific ways the survey could be improved and explain why.
    • Make sure your feedback is directly connected to the content from the textbook and powerpoint this week
  2. Feedback Format:
    • Write your critique in a structured format (bullet points or a numbered list) to clearly distinguish strengths and improvement suggestions.
    • Include brief explanations for each point.

Deliverables:

  • Survey Instrument Document: A complete survey including an introduction, at least 10 survey items, and item rationales.
  • Peer Critique Responses: Three discussion board replies to your classmates' surveys with three strengths and three suggestions for improvement each.
