Week 9: Discussion - Group 4
Discussion Instructions
Think about a response to all the questions listed below. Pick one and post an initial thread response. You’re required to also post a minimum of two interactive responses (to peers and/or to a follow-up question that I may present).
- Explain the functional significance of the difference in wall thickness between the right and left ventricles. Is there a potential consequence of the ventricular wall becoming too thick? Explain.
- In any given instance (for a few minutes for example), what is potentially more dangerous? Hypertension or hypotension? Why?
- Your neighbor, who is a young mother, was told her baby was born with a hole in the upper chamber of his heart. How would you describe/explain this to her? What would you tell her are the potential problems/complications of this?
- Uncle Roberto has been brought to the Emergency Room with altered mental status (confused). Initial blood work shows that his blood pH is 6.8. How significant is this pH change from the normal value? What could have caused this?

may wish to develop your postings in a MS Word document and then cut
and paste them into the DB. Please do not present your discussion
