Week 12: Discussion - Group 4

Discussion Instructions

Think about a response to all the questions listed below. Pick one and post an initial thread response. You’re required to also post a minimum of two interactive responses (to peers and/or to a follow-up question that I may present).

Choose ONE of the following discussion thread topics:

  1. Briefly name/describe 5 functions of the liver (liver does many things)? What are the 5 types of viral hepatitis. How are they acquired?
  2. What is bile and what is it's function? Where is it made? Where is it stored? Is digestive function altered at all by having one's gall bladder removed?
  3. How does parasympathetic & sympathetic nervous systems effect GI (digestive) activity?
  4. How would some radical surgery connecting the bile/pancreatic ducts to the ileum potentially affect digestion macromolecules and absorption of nutrients?
  5. The Discussion Board (DB) is an academic discussion. As such, postings (including initial andresponse postings) are expected to be substantial, to reflect application of relevant coursecontent, and to be supported with evidence from credible sources. The following guidelines should be followed unless the instructions for a particular DBspecifically indicate otherwise:
  6. One initial posting and 2 response postings are required, as a minimum, for each
  7. discussion forum/board. Posts must be completed on at least two separate days.

  8. Original posts should consist of at least 150 words (unless the assignment instructions are
  9. different). Try not to exceed 300 words; however, no points will be deducted for longer

    postings.

  10. Response postings should consist of at least 75 words. Try not to exceed 300 words;
  11. however, no points will be deducted for longer postings.

  12. Timeliness is essential in the online discussion environment in terms of encouraging and
  13. facilitating the exchange and development of ideas among members of the discussion

group. Nightingale College’s academic week runs from Monday at 12:00 am Mountain

Time (MT) to Sunday at 11:59 pm MT. All assignments for the week are due within the

academic week in which they are assigned, unless otherwise specified. Accordingly,

o Initial postings should be posted no later than Wednesday at 11:59 PM MT.

o The required response postings must be posted no later than Sunday at 11:59 PM

    MT.

o The DB will officially close at 11:59 PM MT on Sunday and response postings

will not earn credit after this time.

    ▪ References should be included when applicable. References should be

formatted in a manner generally consistent with APA guidelines; however,

no points will be deducted for variations in line spacing and or indentation

(including "hanging" position for the first line of each entry).

    ▪ To avoid loss of content while your posting is under development, you

may wish to develop your postings in a MS Word document and then cut

and paste them into the DB. Please do not present your discussion

posting in the form of a MS Word document attachment.
