Psychology Question
Write an outline of your interview and your thoughts/ideas on how to approach this dialogue with a volunteer.
This assignment is designed for you to brainstorm your approach and be prepared for your final project.
You will receive full points when you turn in your 1-page draft with the outline of your approach. This plan
doesn’t need to offer a detailed description, but it will serve for you and your instructor to offer feedback in terms
of the frame that you will be using to approach your final project.
Submit your 1-page Draft outline

For your final exam you will complete a guided interview with a volunteer (older than 18-years old) using
Appendix A & B from Nafziger, & DeKruyf.
In this interview, you will ask your volunteer permission to audio-record the interview using this consent form.
Use Appendix A & B to explore your volunteer’s problem story about education and take notes that will help you
focus on uncovering the influences of the problem.
The purpose of this activity is to provide you with an opportunity to practice what you have learned in class. Be
sure that you explain the assignment to your volunteer and have them sign an Informed Consent. If you have
difficulty getting consent to video-record the interview, please reach out to your instructor to seek support.
Please, consider the socio-cultural-political implications of understanding and being in conversation mapping
the influences of a problem story as you conduct your interview
Once the interview is completed, prepare a reflection based on the following questions:
1. How would you work with people who were experiencing similar events in therapy?
2. What would you do to keep concerns of educational systems as the center of therapy?
3. What opportunities/challenges/constraints might you face in working with people who come to consult
with you with this particular ‘problem’?
4. How did you experience yourself asking the guided interview questions in terms of broadening your
scope of practice?
Your paper should follow APA formatting; however, it should be written in the first person. Your paper should be
2,000 words in length. The paper will be evaluated based on the student’s ability to address the content of the
assignment and the degree of self-reflection, self-exploration, and integration of the various aspects of the entire
process, as well as adherence to rules on APA format, grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.
