Milestone Activity 2 psy 311
What do I want you to do?
For your second milestone activity, you will be detailing and explaining what you're measuring and how you're planning to measure it. Specifically, I want to know what you're measuring, how you're planning to measure it, and whether you're taking an experimental or nonexperimental approach to answering your question. Part of this will involve why you made the choices you made and how this (in your view) is the most appropriate way to answer your research question.
Since your question is dependent on a specific population, your next step will be to detail a specific recruitment and sampling plan for your target population. Given your research question (from Milestone 1), justify your sampling method (e.g., convenience, stratified, snowball, etc.). More importantly, identify two specific, non-generic logistical challenges you anticipate in recruiting and retaining your sample (e.g., trust issues, accessing a specific demographic via gatekeepers, high attrition due to the study length). Propose a concrete solution for each challenge. Also, how will you control for biases in your sample? How will you control for your own biases?
Why do I want you to do it?
By carefully considering the possible options that are available to you to answer a research question and your population, you can demonstrate the knowledge that you've learned about research approaches as well as exhibit critical thinking skills that go into determining which approach works best for your question. Having a clear plan for how you would go about answering your research question will be essential in your construction of a methods section of your research proposal that makes up your final assessment in this course.
How do I want you to do it?
- In 4-7 double-spaced typed pages (12 point font, one inch margins), I'd like you to provide how you would plan to answer your research question and the rationale for the choices that you made.
