Milestone Activity 1

For your first milestone activity, you should choose a psychoactive drug of interest and developing a drug information sheet for it. Keep in mind that not all drugs are psychoactive. In this context, a psychoactive drug is a drug that alters thought and behavior in some way and has its effects by interacting with neurotransmitters in some way. If you are unsure whether your drug is psychoactive, be sure to check with your instructor.

Your drug information sheet should include important information covered in this module including: the mechanism of action (which neurotransmitter does the drug affect, it is an agonist or an antagonist?), most common routes of administration, the drug's solubility (is it more fat soluble or water soluble), how long the drug remains in circulation (e.g. the drug's half-life), effective dose ranges, and the therapeutic index of the drug. You should be able to find most of this information with a series of targeted internet searches. Your drug information sheet should not be more than 1 page in length and can be formatted in the form of an outline or bulleted list, and it should be saved in a .doc, .docx, .pdf, or some other Word-compatible file format and uploaded to Brightspace.

By researching a drug of your choice, you will have an opportunity to apply the information covered in this module. This will make the information more relatable and will also provide an opportunity for you to hone your research skills
