You will be preparing a PowerPoint presentation to provide an overview of drugs and behavior. Your presentation should present the drug categories presented in this course. Important pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic information should be provided for an exemplar from each of the four major categories of drugs covered in this course. You should also provide historical background information, major behavioral effects, mechanism of action, therapeutic use (if applicable), abuse liability, and any issues related to toxicity for each of your chosen drugs. This information does not have to be presented in any given order so long as it is all included in your presentation.
Submission 1: PowerPoint Slides with accompanying presentation
You should prepare this presentation with a general audience in mind that does not necessarily have any background knowledge in the study of drugs and behavior. You should plan on a presentation length of 30-45 minutes. You can narrate your PowerPoint presentation using the narration tool within the program, video record yourself giving the presentation on your computer via zoom, YouTube, Kaltura, etc., or simply insert speaker's notes in the PowerPoint presentation depending on your available technology and comfort level.
Because you will be including some description of research that’s been done on the exemplar drugs that you’ve chosen from each category, then it is important that you cite appropriately throughout your presentation and include a slide or slides at the end of the presentation of your references in an APA format. If you have questions about how to properly cite references either in the text of your slides or in the reference slides themselves, please consult the resources listed on the final assignment page on Brightspace and/or reach out to your instructor with specific questions. You are strongly encouraged to complete the draft assignment to receive feedback before submitting the final work, but this is optional.
File Logistics:
● PowerPoint presentation along with any files that are associated with your presentation
● APA formatted in-text citations in slides and final reference slides
● Total presentation should be approximately 30-45 minutes
