Overview
The alternative will be the construction of a website based on a site that was covered in the lecture and/or the textbook that deal with complex societies. You may also use the sites that were mentioned in the guest lectures. Your website should include information on the location of the site, its dating (and how it was dated), the important features and artifacts, and why the site is important for archaeologists. You should include images (maps, site plans, images of artifacts and ecofacts), and these images should include the source. Where did you get these images (include the url or the book and page location if you scanned the image from a book)? Your web page should also include a bibliography.
I want my site to involve this info:
Teotihuacan
-grew rapidly in the early part of the 1st millennium CE
-evidence for city planning– site is aligned along a precise grid that is 15.5 degrees from true north
-Main street (“Avenue of the Dead”) was surrounded by public architecture, including the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, as well as the main marketplace
-at its height, population reached ca. 125,000
Daily Life in Teotihuacan
-specialized craft production included obsidian and pottery manufacture
-residents lived in compounds housing 60-100 persons
-groups of these compounds appear to represent barrios or neighborhoods and kin groups.
New Research (2020s)
-there is now archaeological evidence for possible Maya colony at Teotihuacan and feasting between 300 and 350 BCE
-the date include Maya ceramics and rabbit bones, maize and yucca, as well as broken ceramics
The End of Teotihuacan
-Teotihuacan appears to have declined rapidly after 750 CE. evidence for destruction, including fires
