SCI 200 SNHU Petrochemical-Contaminated Water Presentation

Overview

My question: What are the effects of human consumption of petrochemical-contaminated water and food on human health?

I. Provide a brief overview of the scientific background of your issue and question. How does the issue relate to the natural sciences?

II. Explain how the issue impacts the audience. In other words, how is the issue relevant to members of the audience? Why should the audience care about the response to your question or the outcome of your hypothesis? Support your response with specific examples from your research investigation and APA citation.

Partial Answer: Hypothesis: Humanity health will suffer if people are exposed to or consume food or water that has been contaminated by petrochemicals. Since petrochemicals have detrimental effects on the human body, if human exposure to and consumption of them continues, humans would suffer significantly. Especially future children.

III. Describe the empirical evidence you have to support your conclusions about the impact of the issue on you personally and on your audience. Support your response with specific examples from your research investigation.

IV. Explain why this issue is important to you personally. In other words, why did you select this issue to investigate?

Answer: I decided to investigate this topic because I am passionate about leading a healthier lifestyle and I believe that the first step is to become conscious of what I put in my body. I was frequently malnourished as a child, which led to excessive food hoarding and binge eating. As a result, I grew up with a diet that was far from being healthy and nourishing. I have undergone numerous unnecessary operations as a result of my health, and I have acquired a mindset that has led me to want to learn more about the science behind this unhealthful epidemic that exists in our society.

1V. Illustrate how your investigation of the issue impacted the way you thought about the issue. How did scientific thinking change the lens through which you viewed the issue? Support your response with specific examples from your research investigation.

Answer: I initially approached my research topic with a negative and harmful perspective on the use of petrochemicals and was not really expecting to uncover any positive data. I was shocked to learn about the potential advantages of petrochemicals. It was good to see that since it completely altered my viewpoint and, at the very least, helped me to see how beneficial it is to manufacture things like gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, fuel oil, lubricating oil, and paraffin wax. However, petrochemicals byproducts are frequently very combustible or hazardous before they become completed materials, not only to workers but also to nearby residences, thus there were still not enough advantageous effects.
