Overview
This week, we will be working on a Powerpoint presentation on the review paper we made. Compose and upload the seven core components of your updated version of the review paper in PPT format.
It will be a maximum of 15 minutes of PowerPoint presentation.
Should include all six core components you have been working on. Next, we will be working on an oral presentation.
Oral PRESENTATION RUBRIC Category Metric Points Introduction Purpose/objectives/hypotheses can be addressed within the scope of the assignment (see instructions provided by the instructor) Background sufficient to allow audience to effectively evaluate topic Importance of research clearly stated No evident factual errors presented. Main body Facts connect to show the most important trends observed across the literature (there is a clear storyline). Clear connection between the evidence/trends provided and their original purpose/objectives/hypotheses Describes broader impacts: how the results contribute to the field/society/future research. Wrap-up Summary and take-home message provide a clear conclusion to story. Suggested follow-up solutions/future research a clear transition from results of review Audiovisual elements Amount of text and images per slide does not interfere with visual or oral message >80% of visual aids are informative and align with and support message Starts with an informative title slide and ends with a wrap-up slide At least one graph/data figure is presented. The figure is visually clear, includes critical elements (e.g., legend, axes labels), and supports message. >80% of graphs and figures are explained in enough detail that a general scientific audience can grasp the meaning Presentation Order and timing of information aids understanding of the purpose of the presentation. Eye contact and body language are consistent with an engaging conversational presentation Speaks with good pacing and uses engaging tone and vocabulary Verbal presentation is well-rehearsed with minimal pauses and filler words Contains few to no grammar errors; sentences are free of jargon, complete and easy to understand Questions Colleagues’ questions answered clearly; distinguishes knowledge from speculation References References are cited.
