Week 2: Discussion - Cellular Respiration Discussion

Week 2: Discussion - Cellular Respiration Discussion - Group 8

Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells metabolize nutrients to generate ATP by respiration, fermentation, and photosynthesis. In our Unit Two discussion, you will discuss cellular respiration, the process by which the chemical energy of nutrient molecules is released and captured in the form of ATP. There are three main pathways in aerobic cellular respiration:

  • The Krebs Cycle
  • Glycolysis
  • Electron Transport Chain (ETC)

Address the following criteria in your main response to this week's discussion:

  1. Write a description of the process of cellular respiration in your own words. Please ensure that you describe each pathway involved in cellular respiration. How does this process relate to Microbiology?
  2. Be sure to add at least one reference (using APA) that exemplifies where you learned about the material. This could be your e-text or another source. If you submit a video response, be sure to add a text response with your reference.
  3. All submissions should be in your own words. If you quote material, be sure to clearly designated these statements in quotations.

Please remember that you must respond to at least two of your peers. Additionally, please check the discussion often and respond to those who comment on your initial response.

Week 2: Assignment - Cell Biology: Parts of a Cell Lab

As you have learned in this week's reading, each eukaryotic cell is made of various components or organelles. Each of these organelles plays an important role within the cell.

For this assignment, you will:
