Develop and Apply Function-Based Diagnostics to Assess and Improve Supervisee Performance
Background
In this assignment, you will develop a case scenario based on the fictional supervisee you created in your previous assignment. This scenario will focus on addressing a specific performance challenge in the workplace, such as missing deadlines (i.e., not submitting session notes on time), poor communication (i.e., running late to sessions), or inconsistent work quality (i.e, lack of data collection). You will apply function-based diagnostics to assess the underlying causes of the performance issue, considering both environmental and cultural factors that may influence the supervisee's behavior.
By incorporating function-based analysis, you will identify the antecedents, behaviors, and consequences that contribute to the problem, drawing on principles of ABA to propose interventions that are both evidence-based and culturally responsive. This assignment will help you develop skills in using function-based approaches to performance management, ensuring that the interventions you suggest are tailored to the unique needs of the supervisee and conducive to improving their overall work performance (Reid, Parsons, & Green, 2012; Daniels & Bailey, 2014).
Instructions
- Case Scenario Development:
- Background Information: Provide a comprehensive background on your supervisee, including their role, tasks, and any relevant cultural or environmental factors that may influence their performance. Be sure to address how these factors (e.g., cultural differences, work environment, communication style) could impact their performance.
- Performance Challenge: Clearly define the performance issue (e.g., missing deadlines, inconsistent quality of work). Ensure the problem is specific and measurable.
- Function-Based Diagnostics:
- Using the principles of function-based assessment (e.g., ABC analysis), identify the potential antecedents, behaviors, and consequences contributing to the performance issue. Consider external variables, such as the supervisee's environment or personal factors that could impact their behavior.
- Analyze the specific function of the behavior (e.g., escape, attention, access to tangibles) and how it influences the supervisee’s performance.
- Proposed Interventions:
- Based on your diagnostics, propose specific interventions to address the performance issue. These interventions should be based on behavioral principles and tailored to the unique needs of the supervisee.
- Ensure your proposed interventions are evidence-based and culturally responsive. Provide clear steps for implementation, including timelines, performance goals, and methods of monitoring progress.
Length: This assignment must be 4-5 pages (excluding the title and reference page).
