My experience with the culture in a learning environment comes from my current job. There are various types of individuals from entry level employees, to middle managers all the way up to higher management. Inside our company is various ranges of ethic and culture backgrounds. This does have a challenge as depending on the background environment you come from you it could have you working hard or not has hard as a co worker. It could have you leading a certain way as a manager.
The current company I work in I have found females of the Hispanic and Punjabi backgrounds listen to the males figures in a different way. The go above and beyond to help them and align themselves with the leadership of the same decent. I also find these same individuals want to learn their job and the duties, and do an outstanding job. However when it comes to interacting with other females of the same culture and sharing knowledge they are not as forth coming.
Their male counterparts however do not interact with leadership and instead work hard and do their jobs. They learn from each other and try to better themselves. They share their company knowledge with each other, however are not engaged when participating in company based training/learning environments.
Individuals with a Caucasian background tend to want to not work as hard as the above employees, however they want to promote. They commonly are more engaged with the work training and learning environment. However they do not apply it as quickly and rely on relationships to help them move forward. I have found this from watching both male and female employees.
Overall I believe you have to adapt your learning environment to fit the needs of the audience you are reaching. If you can mix all cultures into a bag pull out the best attributes of each one, you could have a model employee.
