Overview
Construct a 5-page (7th Edition APA style) paper comparing three spiritual religious practices. One of the three should be your self-identified spiritual/religious practice from Assignment 3.1, and the other two should be ones you are less familiar with or are curious to learn more about. If you regularly work with clients of a specific spiritual/religious practice, you should select that practice as one for greater study. (Examples: Islam in America and Islamic countries, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity, Atheism, etc). Within your paper, you must construct at least one table comparing and contrasting the 3 areas such as: overall description, core beliefs, sacred texts, holy places, dietary restrictions, clothing/attire, marriage and family, historical oppression, stigma and stereotype, education, etc. After the chart, discuss the similarities and differences between the 3 (referring back to the chart as needed to support your points) and any biases you held on any religions prior to starting this class and how those biases may have changed thus far (and if so, what was the catalyst for that change). Highlight the areas of stereotypes and stigma for each of the three, and propose a systems change model to increase sensitivity to, and acceptance of, the spiritual and religious beliefs of others (at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels). Sources should be cited throughout the paper.
