The most intriguing aspect of the Antiques Roadshow clip for me what the fact that 150+ years after a daguerreotype of Edgar Allen Poe was taken that it was by chance found in a small town in Iowa. It makes one wonder how many historical items are simply just hidden out there amongst us every day. The buyer also paid $96 dollars for the item, and the video points out that as of 2018 it could be worth between $60,000-$75,000 dollars. In reality something like this item is invaluable to certain groups of people. Its historical value alone makes its monetary value irrelevant in my opinion. There were multiple scenarios that had to play out not only for this item to survive but also be found so many years later. The fact that a daguerreotype of Edgar Allen Poe even exists is amazing.
