Descriptions in police reports are important because they are used to identify things such as evidence, suspects, subjects of a crime, and to make people aware of what to look for if need be. It is especially important to describe a suspect to the best of your abilities because it allows police to pinpoint an exact suspect. Stating that the suspect was a male adult does not help the evaluation process of suspects as there are as many male adults as there are female adults. It is best to describe a suspect with the basic information like hair color, weight, race/ethnicity, eye color, height, sex, and if you get the chance, things like tattoos, birthmarks, scars, accents, facial features, and clothing peculiarities are great details to add. These details are incredibly important as they might end up at a court trial in severe cases.
