This week, I really enjoyed learning the fun facts about specific programs like Google, Dogpile, and more. I find it intriguing to tie what we're learning with real world things I use daily. It helps me get a better understanding of how the things I actually use work! I thought it was interesting to learn about Boolean Algebra and how it works and what it is used for.
Examples of the facts that I liked were that Google was actually the first search engine to use page ranking, which determines the importance of each page. I also was surprised to learn that Dogpile was one of the oldest search engines on the Web, not Google or Firefox like I expected. Along with these facts, I enjoyed learning about Boolean Algebra, created by George Boole. Boolean Algebra is a type of math, but rather than a typical algebraic question, it is concerned on whether a statement is true or false. It uses logic relationships and is a core part of computer science and technology.
