Week 6 ReadingIn this week’s reading we will be learning to differentiate between sex and gender, as well as gender and sexual inequality across cultures. We will also be reading about how gender stratification impacts family, education and the workplace.

- This week's discussion will ask you to examine gender roles between men and women. In your post, be sure to address all of the following using concepts learned from the course:
- Make a list of at least 3 traditional/stereotypical gender roles for men and women that you have observed.
- How these traditional gender roles are both functional and dysfunctional.
- How might these gender roles be harmful to men and to women? Explain using the lens of one or more theories (feminist, conflict, functionalist, symbolic interaction) discussed in the course.
- What are some of the ways that gender roles have evolved in society?
- Society tends to recognize only two genders (female/male) and assumes that gender equals biology (sexuality). How do you think a non-binary person might navigate outside of this dichotomy?
- In your initial post, be sure to answer the questions fully. Strive for a minimum 200 words and not more than 300 words. You are not expected to write mini-essays or monologues, just to back up your examples and opinions with sufficient evidence that your reader will believe in what you say.
- Posts should be relevant to the topic being discussed but should also attempt to introduce a new point of view or piece of information or otherwise further the discussion.
