Sociology Question

Overview

The minimum page length is 10 pages, excluding title, abstract & references. You can exceed

this page length. It is to be double-spaced, 12pt font, Times New Roman with one-inch margins, page numbers inserted. Each paper must include these 10 sections in this order. Use them as subheadings to help you organize your argument and presentation of your unique findings): Title o Consider including: who, what, where, and maybe a concept o A title is not: “final paper for class” o Not counted toward minimum page length Abstract o Short summary of your entire paper, approximately 100-150words identifying your RQ(s), methods, and findings. In class, we reviewed several disaster and climate change abstracts and you would have practiced writing them for your other shorter papers. o Not counted toward minimum page length Introduction Have an introductory paragraph that encapsulates your paper and project for the reader and that captures the reader’s attention. What is the point of your paper? What should the reader expect from your paper? Literature Review o Then present or summarize the key point or finding of at least four of the assigned readings (at least two on disaster and two on climate change) that speak to your study. Research Questions Methodology o In this section, describe your “research participants” without using anyone’s name or specific details. o Explain how you collected data using each of the three research tools: FOCUS GROUP (on disasters)

2 *Remember you have already completed this, but you need to update it based on my earlier comments. QUALITATIVE INTERVIEWS (on climate change) *Remember you have already completed this, but you need to update it based on my earlier comments. *Reference at least one reading that used this data collection tool. PHOTOVOICE (on both disaster and climate change) *Reference at least one reading that used this data collection tool. o As a class and during class, we may conduct group surveys or focus groups or additional interviews, which could serve as additional data for your study and paper. Toward the end of the semester, I will make a list of all of the data collection activities conducted. Findings (this section is unique to your study and data collection activities) o You should have at least one and probably two major findings per data collection activity. Describe and provide specific examples of what was discovered. You started with a RQ, so what is the answer to it – as based on the data you collected? Analysis/Discussion o You should have approximately two-to-three points of analysis. These are the key points that explain how your findings support or contradict the readings as presented in the literature section. Also offer any final comments or analysis or assessments. What does your study mean? What is it significant? What did you learn and why does it matter? Summary o A short single paragraph summarizing your work. References (remember each chapter is a different reference in the edited books). o At least two from the disaster readings & two from the climate change readings – plus method references. o Not counted toward minimum page length

***I was thinking the topic could be how climate change worsens disasters and how that affects public perception since that what some of the work i had done to lead up to this paper was. I am meeting with professor to get some specifics on the parts like photo voice and if im just putting in past papers like the interview par. Im pretty sure thats what i need to do so its not really 10 pages.

This is the final research paper, which builds on all of the data that you have collected throughout the semester. Previous papers should be revised (as based upon my comments) to serve as the foundation for this final paper. This is a description from the syllabus.

It might be better for you to have access to my canvas so you can go through some of the readings and pick what sources you want.
