Overview
CRITICAL CONCEPT/THEORY JOURNAL (Three 1 ¾ - 2 p. entries = 5 p.) This option requires keeping a critical thought society/cultural level journal that reflects upon 3 different personal experiences or that of a friend’s, family’s or community’s experience that is tied to 3 different weekly topics. These are NOT summaries of your readings, opinion papers, or telling me interesting stories about your life. This journal requires critical thinking and the ability to effectively use the course material to make sense of real-world experiences and observations. You must address the larger society, culture, and historical time that shapes an experience, either yours, that of a friend’s, a family’s or a community experience. This option consists of writing 3 unique critical thought discussions, 1½ - 2 pages each over the course of the semester. I am looking for concise, content rich writing, use double space, a standard font, 10-12 cpi., and 1-inch margins, number each entry topic and maximize space used. No need for introductions or state your name every time and avoid space fillers.
