Initial Post:
Drawing on the This American Life podcast, "The Problem We All Live With?" (Episode 562), answer one of the following questions (Indicate the letter prompt, A or B, in which you are responding in your answer).
A. According to the podcast, the White/Black achievement gap in the United States narrowed over a period of time, but then widened again. Why? Identify at least one policy that decreased the achievement gap and at least one policy that widened it. Does this suggest that the achievement gap is a personal trouble or social issue (Mills 1959)? Why or why not?
B. What frames associated with color-blind racism (abstract liberalism, naturalization, and/or cultural racism) did the parents employ at the school town meeting (Bonilla-Silva 2003: 350-352; Golash-Boza 2018: 48-49)? Make sure to elaborate on an example to link and qualify your claim.
