Presentation assignement master social work

Part 1) Video demonstration of intervention

Students will record a video in which they are demonstrating how to introduce and execute a clinical intervention.  Students can select an intervention breath training(belly breathing) lother name is Diaphragm breathing

In recording the presentation, students will need to select a classmate to serve as the “client.” .

Since you will meet "virtually," you can partner with a classmate in a different location.  In the video, you will demonstrate one intervention for helping a current, past, or imaginary client who has experienced trauma. The video demonstration should be no longer than 5-10 minutes in length and illustrate how you would use one of the interventions we have highlighted in class.

Remember to include the following in your demonstration video: 1) How you would provide psychoeducation to the client regarding the intervention; 2) Why you selected the intervention; 3) An explanation of the intervention; and 4) A demonstration of the intervention.

If you are discussing a real client, the demonstration can reflect something that you actually did or that you wish you had done.

This is the original prompt in case you need it I edit it up top this one is in case you need more clarification

Prompt

This assignment consists of three parts: 1) Video demonstration, 2) Peer Review, and 3) Discussion Board.  Please review the specifics in each category to ensure you have adequate time for each step.

Part 1) Video demonstration of intervention

Students will record a video in which they are demonstrating how to introduce and execute a clinical intervention.  Students can select an intervention of their choice from the following categories:  grounding, breath training, meditation/mindfulness, relaxation, or bodywork.  Once you have selected your intervention, please discuss it with the instructor and sign up on the case presentation list so that multiple intervention strategies can be demonstrated.  I have provided a brief video demonstration for each of the categories.  Please do not replicate the intervention that I modeled.

In recording the presentation, students will need to select a classmate to serve as the “client.”  You may use the “partner request” discussion board to correspond with your classmates and select a partner.  Please note that you can record this video in any program. Make sure that we can hear and see you.  It may be easiest to use Zoom.  Instructions for how to record in Zoom are located in the student resources section.

You may view the example on the case presentation list. In the demonstration, I introduced a breathing strategy to a colleague who played a " client. "

Part 2) Peer review your classmates’ videos

Students have been randomly assigned to peer review a select number of their classmates' presentations.  Students will review the assigned videos and provide valuable feedback to the student practicing the intervention.  Peer review will help you to develop your skills in thinking critically and supplying constructive information, which will enhance your classmates' learning experience.  Only the instructor and the student who posts the video will see your feedback.  It is important to highlight at least one area of strength and one area for growth.

If a student was providing feedback on my video, they might say:

The instructor asked the client how she might apply the technique in daily life.  The instructor did not ask the client to use a feeling word to describe her emotional state following the intervention.

Part 3) Discussion board post with reflections on your presentation experience and peer review process

Write a post in the corresponding discussion board that describes the intervention you role-played, the source(s) you used, and any reflections you have on what you learned from the demonstration.  Also, include what you learned during the peer review process.

If I were reflecting upon my role play, I might say:

Foremost, I was over the allotted time. My video was 11:45, and the assignment stated it should be 5-10 minutes.  I should have had it on split-screen so you could have seen both of us simultaneously.  I noticed I moved quite a bit.  I was sitting in an uncomfortable chair, which explains some of it, but I also consciously modeled with my body that the client could readjust her posture if that felt appropriate.  I was using dual screens.  The viewer could not see that the client had her eyes closed and may think that I was not paying attention to the client’s nonverbal cues.

I referenced past sessions, asked for permission, and provided a brief overview of the technique before introducing the intervention.  I established a baseline by asking the client to use a feeling word to describe her mood before practicing the exercise.  In doing so, the client compared and contrasted her emotional state before and after the breathing strategy.
